OpenTech Kiosk & Call Center Combo Plays Role on Winning Team

OpenTech Alliance, Inc. announced the progression of a 2 year development with   to meet the demands of the modern self storage business. In the face of a prolonged recession, American Self Storage continues to persevere while wading through the effects of a municipal bankruptcy in Stockton (California).

The mission to modernize facilities began in 2009 with the installation of their first INSOMNIAC™ Kiosk, while further implementations of the INSOMNIAC Live! Call Center followed. A two-punch solution that makes use of a self service kiosk and centralized call center, the INSOMNIAC AssistantManager is an effective combination that supports facility managers to rent more units and service customers.

 Effectively, self service automation and OpenTech Storage Counselors are strategically empowered to assist managers during the work day, after business hours and on Sundays & Holidays when the office is closed. As a back-up, the call center fields roll over calls made direct to the facility, while at the same time, providing personal assistance at the kiosk. The strategy ensures that customers are assisted immediately on inquiries, rentals and with transactions at both consumer touch points.

“We made a decision to pilot two kiosks and later integrate a centralized call center to assist our on-site managers,” said Dennis Peterson, President of The Laurel Company. “We have watched the progression evolve and continue to measure our return on investment closely,” added Peterson. Over the past two years, the INSOMNIAC AssistantManager solution, has converted over 155 new rentals in Stockton alone.
