As New Yorkers soldier through the coldest winter in years, thousands of people in the New York Metro area are facing potentially life-threatening consequences because they don’t own proper winter coats and jackets. So Edison Properties is joining New York Cares in its annual Coat Drive to deliver coats to people who need them throughout the New York area. Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 28, and through Friday, Feb. 7, Edison will have collection boxes set up at all Manhattan Mini Storage locations as well as at other Edison-owned properties: WorkSpace Offices, Executive Suites, Pre-Built Suites, The Hippodrome office building and The Ludlow residential tower. Members of the public are strongly urged to donate new and lightly used coats at any of these businesses. New York Cares works with nonprofit social service agencies, churches, schools and shelters in New York City to make sure coats are distributed as quickly as they are collected. The need is particularly urgent this year; in addition to the record cold temperatures gripping our area, New York Cares has received 100,000 requests for coats this season, and the organization says it doesn’t have nearly enough donations to meet that demand. “We recognize that there’s a crisis here, right in our own backyard” said Stacy Stuart, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Human Resources at Edison Properties. “And we know that if you ask New Yorkers to pitch in and help out their fellow citizens, they will. So we’re doing what we can to raise awareness and get these coats out to the people who need them as soon as possible.” Coats may be dropped off at any of the following locations: Manhattan Mini Storage: 220 South Street 28 2nd Avenue 260 Spring Street 161 Varick Street 541 West 29th Street 520 West 17th Street 524 West 23rd Street 510-520 West 21st Street 531-539 West 21st Street 543 West 43rd Street 645 West 44th Street 420 East 62nd Street 401 East 110th Street 108-110 West 107th Street 570-571 Riverside Drive 5030 Broadway WorkSpace Offices 132 Varick Street 5030 Broadway The Hippodrome, Executive Suites, Pre-Built Suites: 1120 Avenue of the Americas The Ludlow 188 Ludlow Street About Edison Properties Edison Properties is the family-owned parent company of Manhattan Mini Storage, New York’s self-storage leader and one of the city’s favorite brands, thanks to its famous subway ads and billboards.
