Michigan’s largest self storage operator just got bigger. Pogoda Companies expands their store operations by purchasing the New-West Mini Storage on Newburgh Road in Westland, Michigan. The bank-owned property was purchased for $1.6 million.

The facility will be converted into Pogoda’s flagship brand and will be called National Storage Centers – Westland on Newburgh Road. The property consists of 8 buildings with 378 units totaling 52,350 square feet of rentable storage space. These numbers add to Pogoda’s almost 3 million rentable square feet of storage space.

Maurice Pogoda, President of Pogoda Companies and a 25 year veteran of the self storage industry, is thrilled about the Newburgh Road acquisition.

“We were surprised that such a well located property would be in trouble. It sits in the center of 3 of our other properties that are all doing very well. So, we concluded that there must have been some management or operational issues inhibiting growth. Once we complete our planned renovations – painting, enhanced security, a new name and signage, a new entrance with more parking – and implement our proven management strategies, we will be off to the races. The new National Storage Centers –Westland on Newburgh Road is located at 1638 South Newburgh Road, Westland MI, 48186.
