OpenTech Alliance, Inc. announced that Storage Express, an innovator in the self storage industry has installed 230 INSOMNIAC ILocks at their new 49,000 square foot drive thru facility, in the heart of Bloomington, IN (population 80,000).

The facility does not have a traditional office or on-site staff; it has an Automated Rental Center with an on-site, INSOMNIAC self service kiosk. The kiosk offers two-way video customer assistance, as well as the ability to rent units and process payments. Access into the facility is controlled by PTI Security’s “StorLogix” access control system. The system allows current tenants to enter the property and unlock their units thru the external keypad. The on-site technology is complemented by a team of roving property managers and the customer service representatives who are located at the company’s headquarters.

“This is our third property with ILocks. We feel the technology offers us a cost savings, an added level of security, and increased customer convenience,” stated Jefferson Shreve, Storage Express President.

The facility is the first of its kind in North America and may likely be a preferred model of many self storage developers in the future. OpenTech Alliance President and CEO, Robert A. The INSOMNIAC ILocks are wireless, battery-operated, individual unit door locks that provide a simple way to secure vacant units, automate the over-locking process, and add a unique level of protection for self storage tenants. The locking system which is manufactured by PTI Security, and distributed by OpenTech Alliance, integrates seamlessly with the StorLogix system, allowing the locks to automatically engage and disengage when a tenant keys in their access code at the gate keypad.
