Florida Man Arrested For Theft At CubeSmart And SmartStop
Lyle Girard, 39, was arrested last week following an investigation into a series of burglaries at a CubeSmart in Florida. His arrest came after a tenant's claims that two Gucci purses were stolen from her storage unit.
The arrest report notes that the unit's metal mesh had been cut, and security footage showed a suspect, presumed to be Girard, entering the facility (Girard has previously been arrested for burglary). Further investigation revealed that Girard had pawned several purses at two pawn shops in West Palm Beach in late February. The two items matched those reported stolen by the tenant.
Girard was also linked to other burglaries in which the following were reported stolen:
- Royal Palm Beach Field Operation Center: copper wire, copper tubing, and yellow brass
- SmartStop Self Storage at 1341 S State Road 7: a chainsaw, tile vibrator, boat hull cleaner, and pro lifter
- Smart Stop Self Storage at 1221 S State Road 7. 20 pairs of Nike Air Jordan shoes.
Girard is in the Palm Beach County Jail for burglary and dealing in stolen property.
