UPDATED 8/23/24 TO INCLUDE NEW SUSPECT PHOTOS
A fire broke out at Clinton Self Storage on Monday morning. The facility, located at 125 7th Ave. S. in Clinton, Iowa, was left "gutted," according to those on the scene.
The Clinton Fire Department was dispatched at 3:41 a.m., responding to the scene with 14 firefighters, a command vehicle, two aerial apparatus, an engine, and three ambulances (The Camanche Fire Department, Clinton Police Department, Clinton Street Department, Alliant Energy, and Clinton County Communications arrived later to offer assistance).
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters saw that the fire had extended through the roof of at least four units and was also visible on the exterior peak of the roof across most of the complex. To put out the blaze, firefighters had to cut into 20 individual storage unit doors, hosing them down for over 45 minutes. No one was injured, although crews remained on scene for several hours to check for hot spots and perform investigation.
This incident comes on the heels of another self-storage fire in Clinton last week at North Bridge Mini Storage, 2021 McKinley St. in Clinton, Iowa. A link between the two incidents has not been confirmed.
