Man Arrested For Assaulting Self-Storage Facility Manager
Police arrested a sexual battery suspect this week who has been accused of attacking a self-storage facility manager at a US Storage Centers facility in southwest Miami-Dade on June 20.
According to reports, 35-year old David Joseph entered the facility office and “asked to see the smallest unit available.” The manager recognized him as a former tenant and took him to a unit. There, he pulled her inside and attacked her, attempting to perform a number of sexual acts.
The report states the manager yelled at Joseph and pointed to security cameras, which got him to stop. Police write that at that point, “She remained calm and they both walked out and got on the golf cart to head back to the office.” Joseph then drove off in an SUV.
Police said the victim called authorities after the assault to report that “a customer tried to rape her inside one of the storage units." She was able to identify the assailant since he has been a previous tenant.
The report states that detectives put out a probable cause flyer for Joseph but it wasn't until this week that he was located driving in the area. Facing a charge of sexual battery, Joseph is behind bars in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. When asked about the incident, he invoked his right to remain silent. He remains in custody on a $50,000 bond.
