Man Sets Self-Storage Unit On Fire And Shoots Himself
“Shots have been fired,” came the emergency call yesterday morning from a SecurCare Self Storage in Amarillo, Texas.
Upon arriving at the facility, located at 2501 Paramount Boulevard, Amarillo police officers watched as an unidentified man, who had been firing rounds from a gun in or around his unit, turned the gun on himself and pulled the trigger. The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
It was then, at around 10:15 am, that officers noticed smoke coming from the man’s storage unit.
The Amarillo Fire Department was called in next. Firefighters made entry into a two story building and were met with thick, black smoke. They were able to get the fire under control within 30 minutes, with only three units being damaged.
No further information on the unit damage or the man’s condition has been released. The incident comes on the heels of a fire at a SecurCare Self Storage facility in Colorado Springs, CO this past Monday. Read more.
