NeSSA and Kure It Hosting a Fundraiser to Honor Charlie Fritts
The Northeast Self Storage Association is working with Kure It Cancer Research ahead of the upcoming 2025 Northeast Storage EXPO to raise money for a grant in Charlie Fritts’s name. A decades-long member, supporter, and volunteer of his local self-storage associations, Charlie was serving as NeSSA’s President during his untimely passing in August of 2024. He was a committed and tireless advocate for our members and industry. Few know that Charlie also fought against cancer earlier in his life and was very supportive of Kure It’s mission. He brought the idea of working with Kure It to the board just recently and is the reason their logo and website are linked at the bottom of NeSSA’s website.
In recognition of Charlie’s kind and selfless demeanor, the board is honored to raise money for a research grant in his name. The goal is to raise $75,000, which will allow the grant to be named after Charlie. The grant will then be given to a research facility located in the northeast to study underfunded cancer. To kick off these fundraising efforts, NeSSA is donating $7,500 – 10% of the goal.
“Charlie was so much more than a volunteer,” said Courtney J. Kahler, Executive Director of NeSSA. “He was a friend, a mentor, a genuinely kind person, and a positive and uplifting voice in any room. The board has wanted to give back to Charlie’s memory and believes a fundraiser in his name with a company he supported is the perfect way to honor him.”
Donations can be made now through May 31, 2025, with a live fundraising event happening May 15th during the EXPO at Foxwoods Resort Casino. Checks can be made out to Kure It, Inc. and sent to 1300 Quail Street, Suite 104, Newport Beach, CA 92660. Please include “Charlie Fritts Fund” in the memo line.
Courtney added, “Charlie made an indelible mark within our industry and with the countless number of people who met him. We invite all of our members, supporters, and anyone who was lucky enough to know Charlie to join us in celebrating him and honoring his legacy.”
