PTI opens Center of Excellence, hosts Tech Days

PTI Security Systems, part of ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions and the global leader in self-storage access control technologies, held its inaugural Tech Days event at its new Center of Excellence in Kennesaw, Ga. During two days in February the team gathered for interactive product introductions, facilities tours, and real-time collaboration in preparation to launch new offerings in 2024. 

At the PTI Center of Excellence, a hub of innovation and collaboration that includes state-of-the-art workstations, expansive meeting space, and two lab facilities to advance R&D efforts, team members viewed firsthand how products are developed, tested, assembled, and shipped. The Center of Excellence layout also provides the opportunity for seamless communication between critical departments like customer support and product engineering. 

This is by design, noted Michael Tanner, PTI’s VP of Operations. “PTI’s products can’t only be great in theory, they have to perform exceptionally. Gathering all aspects of our product development and support experience under one roof gives us an unmatched opportunity to collaborate before, during, and after deployment, all for the benefit of our customers.” 

The teams were introduced to this approach as they participated in hands-on user experiences guided by the product designers. Attendees familiarized themselves with three new or soon-to-be-launched innovations: the HELOX smart padlock, the next generation AP-1 keypad (due in early Q2), and the ProEdge Smart Latch. 

Business Development Manager Christopher Cordtz came prepared. “I attended as a champion for my customers,” he said. “I brought their questions and came away with great learnings, not only about the new products and how to make sure operators get the most value out of them, but also how PTI is directly leveraging customer feedback to improve our product portfolio.”

The attendees gained direct product knowledge, stronger insights into manufacturing and technical support operations, and the ability to share this information with operators utilizing PTI products.

“This is a preview of more innovation and intentionality to come,” noted PTI SVP and Head of Self-Storage David Shaw. “We are passionate about what we are doing in the self-storage industry and the future of PTI, and we want to be sure our team members understand how everything we do supports a frictionless customer experience.”

PTI plans to use the Center of Excellence for further hands-on learning events and industry education days for team members, and will showcase new products at upcoming industry events.
