The Texas Self Storage Association (TSSA) was recently invited to tour the Shriners Children's Texas hospital in Galveston, an organization that has been the beneficiary of TSSA’s charitable fundraising efforts for the last 24 years. This year, the association was honored with a newly installed engraved plaque just outside of the Quiet Mobility Room on a patient services floor of the hospital.

The engraved plaque is displayed in honor of TSSA’s longstanding commitment for raising funds to help support the children at Shriners. "The association is grateful for the opportunity to have its name permanently engraved outside of one of the most special rooms in the hospital, and we are incredibly thankful to our members who have contributed to help make this milestone possible," said a TSSA representative.

The Quiet Early Mobility Room is a safe space for patients learning (or re-learning) how to stand or walk. The floors are covered with padding so that if a child falls, they are protected from injury. This room also serves as a space to provide therapy for patients who are easily overwhelmed or overstimulated. In the Quiet Early Mobility Room, there are fewer distractions and noises compared to the rehab gym.

After the hospital tour, TSSA representatives presented a check for the 2024 fundraising total in the amount of $179,694.05, bringing the association’s lifetime donation total to $2.71 million!
