Space Station pledges carbon neutrality by EOY
"At Space Station, we believe in building a sustainable future, and we are committed to reducing our environmental impact," said Julie Windress, Property and Asset Manager at Space Station, which is also encouraging employees to adopt sustainable transportation options. "We are proud to be leading the way in sustainable self-storage and setting an example for the industry. Our goal is to inspire others to join us in this journey, and we are confident that together, we can make a significant difference."
Founded over 40 years ago by Alastair Caldwell, a former McLaren Formula 1 team manager, Space Station was acquired in 2020 by Heitman, a global real estate investment management firm. The aim of the acquisition was to grow the Space Station brand.
The company currently has 17 facilities across London, Birmingham, the Midlands, Berkshire, Shropshire, and Northamptonshire.
The commitment to carbon neutrality by the end of 2025 is an ambitious target, but one that Space Station believes it can achieve. "By adopting a holistic approach to minimizing its carbon footprint, the company hopes to make a considerable impact on its overall environmental footprint," states a press release. "Space Station's Going Green initiative sets an example for others in the industry, demonstrating that storage providers can balance business needs with environmental responsibilities."
