Knightscope, Inc., an innovator in robotics and artificial intelligence technologies focused on public safety, recently announced two new K5 Autonomous Security Robot (ASR) deployments for a fast-growing self-storage company.

According to a press release, Knightscope’s K5 ASRs are now patrolling two California storage locations to help mitigate risk and elevate the protection offered to tenants and their belongings. In addition to their security duties, the robots will broadcast helpful messages to passersby and act as brand ambassadors.

Their client is SecureSpace, which recently highlighted the ASRs on a blog post.

"At our self-storage facility in Torrance, CA, the K5 Robot complements our robust security measures, providing 24/7/365 on-site patrolling," writes SecureSpace. "Operating tirelessly in all weather conditions and recharging autonomously year-round, the K5 enhances our surveillance capabilities without the need for human intervention using a suite of sensors, cameras, and AI-powered software, ensuring that no corner is left unwatched."

According to the post, the AI-driven ASR has 360-degree and end-to-end facility surveillance which eliminating blind spots, thermal anomaly detection, high-definition audio, and video ensure detailed environmental awareness. The ASR also provides a visible theft deterrence which helps make the facility a less appealing target for criminals.

"Our commitment to sustainability is demonstrated through reduced carbon emissions, minimizing the need for patrol vehicles, and lessening human involvement, which aligns with our goal of enhanced operational efficiency," writes SecureSpace.
