Arrest Made In Connection With Body Found In Self-Storage Fire
Last month, MSM reported that a fire had broken out at Broadmoor Self-Storage in Kentwood, Michigan on November 7, and that after firefighters extinguished the blaze they discovered a dead woman's body inside one of the units.
That woman turned out to be 33-year old Corinne Abosamra of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Now, police have arrested another woman for locking Abosamra in the unit. The suspect, 32-year old Morgan Wingeier of Delton, Michigan has been charged with manslaughter and unlawful imprisonment.
According to reports, the two women were in a relationship and Wingeier was letting Abosamra stay in the unit because she was homeless. On November 7, video surveillance shows Wingeier, along with her mother, leaving the unit and Wingeier padlocking it as they left.
According to Wingeier, she knew Abosamra was in the unit but didn't want her mother to know, so she locked it behind her as not to raise suspicion. She also admitted that she knew Abosamra had no way to get out and no phone to call for help, but that she had planned to return in a few hours to unlock the unit.

Surveillance video shows smoke at about 8:30 pm, which becomes flames after 9 pm. Eventually police and firefighters were called, arriving at about 11 pm. That's when they noticed that unit 454 was padlocked from the outside. They cut open the lock and discovered Abosamra’s body inside. (The cause of the fire is still undetermined).
Police say they found Wingeier at a hotel the next day – about 23 hours after she had locked Abosamra in the unit. Wingeier, who was also convicted of using meth last year, is being held in Kent County Jail on a $50K bond. She is expected to be back in court after the new year.
